Choi Koon-shum:the Chairman of the Board of Directors in Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Secondary School

As the vice president of both Education Science Culture and Public Health Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the president of Hong Kong Xinhua Group, the economic adviser of the president of the Chinese Academy of Science, the doctor of humanities of Michigan State university in the USA, the Gold Award winner of the first “Yi Xian Award” and the first person in title of Pioneer of Education in Zhongshan, Mr. Choi Koon-shum, in the last 30 years, has donated more than HK$300,000,000 to education, science research, and culture in mainland China.

Over the years, Mr, Choi has donated more than HK$5,000,000 to found the Foreign Exchange Foundation inZhongshan Overseas Chinese Secondary School, aiming to bring in the advanced and going out to the world to promote the school towards internationalization, modernization and diversification. In 2009 and 2014, on the 55thand 60th anniversary of Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Secondary School, Mr. Choi invited a special guest, Professor Yang Zhenning, to give a wonderful speech to all the students at school. Since 2006, Mr. Choi has sponsored 10,000 RMB to each excellent student who is admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking universities. Hereafter, Mr. Choi proposed a new reward program that the monetary reward will be granted not only to the students of admitted to the Tsinghua University and Peking University, but also to the outstanding students who are admitted to the top 20 universities in the world, with the reward up to 100,000 RMB to each honored student. Up to now, Mr. Choi has established more than twenty funds of education and science, which are used in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, universities and research institutes.
